The massage frankly this morning is that America’s support for Georgia remains strong and steadfast and we’ll continue to do so, – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the regarding statement after the meeting with the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili at the State Department in Washington on May 2.
U.S. Secretary of State congratulated Giorgi Kvirikashvili on the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia.
“The Unite States unequivocally condemns the Russia’s occupation of Georgian’s territories. Russia’s forcible invasion is a clear violation of international peace and security and goes against the basic principle of the provisions of United Nations and Helsinki Final Act. Russia occupied Georgian territories Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the integral parts of Georgia. United States supports sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. We call on Russia to fulfil all its obligations under the 2008 ceasefire agreement, to withdraw forces to pre-conflict positions, to cancel its recognition of Georgia’s regions of Abkhazia and south Ossetia as independent states and to provide free access for humanitarian assistance to each of those two regions”, – U.S. Secretary of State said.
