Migration Department detains six foreign nationals during special immigration enforcement operation
Officials from the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) conducted a targeted immigration enforcement operation as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration.
According to MIA, the department reports that specific locations were thoroughly inspected as part of this initiative, which aims to identify foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal authorisation, based on gathered intelligence.
“As a result of this comprehensive operation, six foreign nationals were detained. Among them are citizens of India and Iran. It was established that their presence in the country violates the provisions set in the Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons,” the department stated.
Currently, these individuals are being held at the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation centre, where procedures are underway to facilitate their removal from the country.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the Migration Department will continue such targeted immigration control measures regularly to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s law on the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons.
