Migration Department detains 5 foreign nationals

As part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration, officers of the Migration Department and Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained 5 foreign nationals through complex and special migration control measures.

It was established that the presence of these five citizens of India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Nepal in the country contravened the provisions outlined in the Law of Georgia ‘On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons’, the Ministry stated.

The detainees are placed at the Migration Department’s temporary isolator until the necessary procedures for their expulsion are complete.

The Migration Department affirmed that regular immigration control measures will continue to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s legislation regarding the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons.
