Migration Department arrest 41 foreign nationals during crackdown on illegal migration
As part of their ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration, staff of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) conducted targeted immigration enforcement operations in Tbilisi and Batumi.
According to the Ministry, these measures resulted in the arrest of 41 foreign nationals, including citizens of Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Algeria, China, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Jordan, and Iraq.
“During the operation, department personnel checked various locations and facilities to identify foreigners unlawfully present in Georgia. It was established that the detainees had violated the requirements set out in Georgia’s Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons. The individuals are now held at the Migration Department’s temporary detention centre, and relevant procedures are underway for their extradition from the country,” a Ministry statement explained.
