MIA to fulfil Court order over the Melia case
Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtan Gomelauri says the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is working on the execution of the Court decision over the Melia case.
The Minister could not provide the exact date of execution.
“We will fulfill the Court order. It could be tomorrow, in three days or a month later, it is not limited,” Gomlauri stated on Sunday.
Tbilisi City Court ruled imprisonment for the United National Movement (UNM) party Chair, Nika Melia earlier this week. Melia has been accused of organizing mass violence during anti-government protests in 2019. UNM leader denies the charges.
Following Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s resignation due to the Court order, Melia’s arrest had been ‘temporarily postponed.’
