MIA: Law enforcement officers seize significant quantity of narcotics bound for Georgia
Through coordinated operational efforts and investigative actions, officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), in cooperation with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, apprehended an individual identified as A.V., a citizen of the Republic of Armenia born in 1984. He is now facing charges of illegal possession, storage, and illegal importation of a substantial quantity of narcotics into Georgia, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the MIA, such a crime carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life behind bars.
“Following a thorough inspection of the vehicle driven by the suspect at the Sadakhlo checkpoint, law enforcement officers recovered approximately one kilogram of the narcotic drug Clephedrone as evidence. The investigation remains ongoing under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code, the MIA stated.
