MIA launches investigation into Giorgi Akhobadze’s alleged group violence

On November 2, this year, following a report filed by Giorgi Akhobadze with the Public Security Management Centre 112, officers from the Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, initiated an investigation under Article 126, Part 2, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code, relating to group violence, the Ministry announced.

According to the statement, investigative measures and witness interviews revealed that while travelling by taxi near Tbilisi International Airport, Giorgi Akhobadze was blocked by a vehicle from which two individuals emerged and physically assaulted him.

“During questioning, Giorgi Akhobadze stated that he would be unable to identify the attackers. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges all individuals, whether victims or witnesses, to cooperate fully with the investigation. Such cooperation is crucial for the swift resolution of the case and the prosecution of those involved,” the Ministry added.
