MIA: Foreign national detained in Shida Kartli, six kilograms of drugs seized

Officers from the Shida Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained a foreign national on charges of purchasing, possessing, and facilitating the distribution of an especially large quantity of narcotics.

According to the Ministry, law enforcement officers searched the suspect’s temporary residence, uncovering approximately six kilograms of dried cannabis packaged into 14 separate parcels ready for distribution.

“As a result of investigative activities, materials required for packaging narcotics and a sum of money presumably obtained from illicit drug sales were also seized.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260(4) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the Ministry statement reads.
