MIA detains five more people in connection with October 4 events in Tbilisi

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained four more individuals last night in connection with the violent events that took place in Tbilisi on October 4, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze announced at a briefing. Later that same day, the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained another individual as part of the investigation into the October 4 incidents.

According to him, a total of 22 people have now been detained in connection with this case, whilst three individuals remain at large.

“As the public is aware, the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs is investigating the criminal events that unfolded in Tbilisi on October 4 under Articles 187, 222, 225, and 317 of Georgia’s Criminal Code.

Officers of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs are continuing appropriate investigative measures aimed at identifying other perpetrators of the crime and ensuring they are brought to justice. “Comprehensive investigative efforts are ongoing in this criminal case,” stated Darakhvelidze.
