MIA detains 29 Rustaveli Avenue rally participants in last 5 days for blocking roadway

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained 29 Rustaveli Avenue rally participants in the last 5 days for unlawful blocking of the roadway and violation of the rule on assembly and manifestation,” the MIA said in its statement.

The MIA calls on rally participants to avoid unlawful activities.

“The rally participants did not comply with orders of the Patrol Police representatives not to commit unlawful acts and not to block the roadway; however, due to the small number, the demonstrators blocked the road and artificially blocked Rustaveli Avenue.

We once again call on rally participants to avoid unlawful activities; otherwise, it will act within its mandate granted by law, will identify all perpetrators and apply appropriate measures,” reads the statement.
