MIA: Armed individual detained at protest on Rustaveli Avenue

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that officers of the Patrol Police Department and the State Security Service detained M.L., born in 1963, during a rally on Rustaveli Avenue on September 2. The detainee was allegedly carrying a firearm among the participants.

According to the ministry, a firearm was seized during a personal search.

“Additionally, various firearms and ammunition were discovered at the detainee’s residence during investigative actions. The case is being investigated under Parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison,” the statement reads.
