MFA to monitor the process in Ukraine before deciding on a date for the Georgian ambassador's return to Kyiv
The first working meeting was held earlier today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (MFA) within the framework of consultations with the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine, Teimuraz Sharashenidze.
As the First Channel of Georgia has learned from the Foreign Ministry, the issues and prospects of the bilateral relations between Georgia and Ukraine were discussed at today’s meeting.
MFA said, “it would monitor the steps taken by the Ukrainian authorities, and then will make a decision on the date of the ambassador’s return to Ukraine.”
“Recalling an ambassador for consultations does not mean breaking off the diplomatic relations between the two countries. It is not planned to reconsider the strategic partnership between the two countries,” said the Foreign Ministry.
Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine Teimuraz Sharashenidze was recalled from Kyiv to Tbilisi for consultations after Zelenskyy’s decision to appoint former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili as the head of the Executive Reform Committee of Ukraine.
