MEP András László: EP wants to see puppet government in Georgia, looks at Georgia as colony
“This report on Georgia is a disgrace. It is a disgrace to the European Parliament. It’s neither European nor democratic in nature; and it lacks respect,” Hungarian MEP András László stated during the European Parliament’s plenary during debates on Georgia’s issue.
According to MEP László, the EP wants to decide Georgia’s foreign policy, does not see Georgia as a partner, but as a colony. The Hungarian politician also added that not sanctions, but an honest dialogue is needed.
“It is clear that the majority of the European Parliament would like to see a puppet government in Georgia, and until that happens, you are deliberately working to exacerbate European-Georgian relations. This is exactly the purpose that your report serves.
Just to mention a few points, the European Parliament wants to tell the Georgians who to have in government, that they should hold new elections. The EU also wants to tell them when and who should organise these elections, and who can monitor the results. Basically, and now I quote: “what the true will of the people is.” You know that better than they. It’s the EP that wants to decide who the real Georgian civil sector are; those, who were funded by the Biden administration through USAID. Now that the Trump administration has cut off that funding to the left-wing globalist activist network, you want the EU to adopt these organisations. It is the EP that wants to decide Georgia’s foreign policy, even though that is a national competence, even for EU member states. You do not see Georgia as a partner. You look at Georgia as a colony.
What is needed is not sanctions, but an honest dialogue that respects the sovereignty and geopolitical situation of Georgia, as well as one that focuses on our common values and interests,” MEP András László concluded.
