Medical Director of Iashvili Children’s Hospital reports on increase of flu cases
Flu cases have significantly increased for the last two weeks, said Ivane Chkhaidze, Medical Director of Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital.
Ivane Chkhaidze warned of flu activity period in November and December. He said coronavirus cases also increased and it was difficult to distinguish among the virus types taking into account similar symptoms: fever, sore threat, headache, pain in muscles. Chkhaidze urged high-risk persons for vaccination against seasonal flu.
The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) offers jabs against seasonal flu for free until November 22. The NCDC advises that high-risk persons be vaccinated.
Within the state program, around 400 facilities will be participating in the vaccination process. Georgia purchased 200 thousand 4-component vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
