Man shooting spree from a residential building in Varketili sentenced to prison

The man, who was shooting spree from one of the blocks of apartments in Varketili district, sentenced to prison.

The judge has required a medical examination of the defendant’s health condition. The next hearing is scheduled for July 28.

According to the police, on June 5, 2020, Public Safety Management Center “112” received a call alleging that in Varketili III massive, Tbilisi, A.I. (DoB 1975) fired several shots under the alcohol influence.

Policemen operatively responded to the call and arrived at the place of incident.

Police officers established that A.I. was locked in his own apartment, who deliberately exposed his own shotgun (registered on his name) from the apartment window. Detainee also made several untargeted shots, which was witnessed by neighbours, thus grossly violated public order.

Despite multiple warning from the side of police, he continued firing from the firearm.

After several hours of negotiations, A.I. obeyed the request of the police and left the apartment. Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs managed to detain him at the place of crime on the fact of the assault on a police officer, crime envisaged by the article 353, I part of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The weapon of crime was seized by police as evidence.
