Mamuka Bakhtadze - Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport gives possibility to contribute to enhancement of European cooperation

Holding of a prestigious conference in Georgia gives the possibility to our country to contribute to the enhancement of European cooperation – Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated during the opening of the 15th bi-annual Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport of Council of Europe.

Georgian PM underlined that at the initiative of Georgia, an international declaration was elaborated with the cooperation of Council of Europe – Tbilisi Declaration on Human Rights and Sports.

“Georgia is a country of ancient civilization, diverse culture, and heritage that is well-known with old sports traditions as well. Georgia with its geographic location and political and cultural values is an inseparable part of Europe. The Council of Europe is our loyal supporter on a path of the European integration, Since 1999, our cooperation has enhanced and comprised all directions including the sports sphere,” Bakhtadze said.

PM claimed that in the 21st century, sport became undividable part of the life of a modern person. “Directly or indirectly, sport has come closer to awareness and everyday life. It is a universal tool and has social, economic, educational and cultural importance,” Bakhtadze stated.
