Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos said Georgia did its best under hardest conditions

Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, President of the European Court of Human Rights thanked Georgia for having done its best as Chairman of Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe under the hardest conditions amid novel coronavirus pandemic.

Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos underlined the role of Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani and Permanent Representative Irakli Giviashvili in functioning of the Committee.

“The Committee of Ministers is the guarantor of the veracity and viability of the Convention system. It represents is a very important organ,” he said, and added that the CoE also welcomed Georgia’s initiatives about environment protection.

Greece took over from Georgia Chairmanship of CoE Committee of Ministers from May 15.
