“We had a very fruitful exchange of views with the speakers of parliament from the EU candidate countries, during which we discussed the challenges they face on the path to European Union integration,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said.

According to him, the Belgrade Declaration will be adopted at the conclusion of the forum.

“Many similarities emerged, including the changing nature of the goals. Once one objective is achieved, new requirements are introduced and additional goals are set. There are also subjective approaches based on the domestic agendas of individual countries.

We all agree that unity, the exchange of information, and mutual support are essential. A challenge that one country encounters during the accession process may not arise for another at the same stage, but it may face it later. Therefore, it is important to understand how others address these challenges.

We agreed to share our experience, particularly in terms of properly planning the integration process at the legislative level. Tomorrow, we will discuss organizational and technical issues, including how we intend this format to function and how information will be exchanged. We will also adopt the Belgrade Declaration, which will reflect our common intentions,” Papuashvili said.
