Lelo's Japaridze emphasises unity on May 26 to defend Georgia’s independence

“May 26 should be a day of unity—another opportunity for all of us to declare that no one can take away our independence,” stated Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Lelo party.

He stressed that any confrontation or provocation must be excluded from the celebrations dedicated to Independence Day.

“Today, within the framework of the Resistance Platform, we convened with President Zourabichvili to discuss preparations for May 26. This is Georgia’s Independence Day, and we must celebrate it with dignity. It should serve as a day of unity—a powerful affirmation that our independence has been achieved once and for all. This is what the day should symbolise, and that is the core of our discussion. We outlined the events we are planning for May 26.

This celebration will be a demonstration of unity, solely dedicated to Georgia’s independence. Any confrontation or provocation must be avoided. It should be a proud celebration worthy of Georgia and its people who fought tirelessly for independence. We are organising a broad platform for this event, and all information will be publicly shared through social media,” Japaridze affirmed.
