Lelo’s Gegelia says they closed parliament participation topic, sees no point in representation in this body
“Naturally, this decision lies with Gakharia and his team. From the very beginning, our team’s stance was different: we renounced our mandates and left the Parliament of Georgia. Therefore, this issue has been closed for us,” stated Grigol Gegelia, a member of the Lelo–Strong Georgia party.
According to Gegelia, Lelo has not had, and will not have, any contact with the current parliament.
“As for defending the interests of citizens, I believe it is essential that their interests are protected and represented at the local level. However, in an illegitimate parliament, one that established this so-called investigative commission, which is attempting to rewrite the history of modern Georgia, we see no purpose in being represented in such a body,” Grigol Gegelia added.
The Gakharia for Georgia party has decided to take its seats in Parliament. Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the party’s political council, stated during a briefing that refusing to use the parliamentary and city council platforms is not merely a mistake, but a crime against the country and its people.
