Lelo's Gegelia says Mamuka Khazaradze's family contributed hundreds of millions of lari to state budget

“Mamuka Khazaradze’s family has contributed hundreds of millions of lari to the state budget. If not for the corrupt government, these funds would have been directed toward the nation’s social and economic development,” stated Grigol Gegelia, a member of the Lelo-Strong Georgia party.

According to Gegelia, discussing Mamuka Khazaradze’s private property underscores the “tragedy” facing the country.

“Khazaradze’s family contributes significant sums to the national budget, yet instead of channelling this wealth into improving social welfare and economic progress, the government, entwined in corruption, misappropriates these resources. This is a straightforward issue related to a technical error identified during the family’s application process, which has since been resolved, leaving no room for further speculation.

If the Georgian Dream government has no other topics to discuss, it highlights the tragedy our country endures. A government that has impoverished and robbed its citizens has little else to do but focus on targeting Mamuka Khazaradze’s private property,” Gegelia emphasised.

The Revenue Service stated it launched an investigation into potential violations of tax law, which concerns the rental agreement over real estate owned by Khazaradze’s family and leased to the German ambassador.

On August 4, Khazaradze announced that the tax matter concerning a rental contract with German Ambassador Peter Fischer had been resolved, following proper registration procedures.
