Lelo's Datunashvili states their party to announce position on local election in due time
“I would advise my colleagues to refrain from actions that could lead to an embarrassing situation and potentially harm them,” said Tazo Datunashvili, a member of the Lelo party’s Political Council.
According to Datunashvili, no one should expect the Lelo party to declare its stance regarding the upcoming municipal elections through press briefings or public statements.
“Our position remains unchanged. Our primary political objectives are to prepare for the parliamentary elections, achieve appointment of those elections, and secure the release of political prisoners. At this moment, discussing local elections is not relevant. We do not shy away from the issue; when the time is right, we will speak about it openly and without hesitation.
Let everyone mind their own business. We will disclose our plans and strategies when the appropriate time comes. Nobody should expect the Lelo party to announce its position on the upcoming municipal elections through briefings or declarations. I would recommend that my colleagues avoid putting themselves in an embarrassing situation that could damage their credibility,” he emphasised.
On May 20, Nika Melia, a leader of the opposition Ahali party, stated, “The time has come to end political confusion and ambiguity.” He called on all opposition parties to honestly declare whether they intend to participate in what he described as a “non-existent race called local elections.”
