“Before Kaja Kallas decides to make a statement on Georgia, she would better distance herself from Lelo and Aleko Elisashvili, who is convicted of an attempted terrorist act,” said Archil Gorduladze, Chair of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee.

According to Gorduladze, statements by Kaja Kallas are hostile and shameful.

“It is shameful when you have no understanding of geography or the political situation, yet, at someone else’s directive, you attempt to attack the country and the choice of its voters. This confirms once again that the European Union stands on the brink of a civilizational abyss.

As for cooperation with the Black Sea region, the EU countries should have a pragmatic attitude toward Georgia since the country has a significant role in the Middle Corridor. Implementation of the Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable project is impossible without Georgia’s involvement. We see that the European Union is not taking pragmatic steps. They are even attempting to destroy the economy,” he said.

Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, stated ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on July 13: “We have problems with Georgia – we have no relations with the government. We don’t want to support the government; we want to support the Georgian people. We are also discussing how to do this in the best possible way so that people do not lose faith in the European Union.”
