Leaders of Kazakh, Azerbaijani, and Georgian Railways sign collaborative action plan
During the New Silk Way business forum held in Kazakhstan, the heads of Kazakh, Azerbaijani, and Georgian railway companies formalised a joint action plan aimed at ensuring the smooth transit of trains and further reducing travel times.
According to the Georgian Railways’ update on the development of this initiative, the document was crafted based on the insights of a joint working group established by the participating parties. This group’s recommendations were informed by a thorough physical inspection and detailed study of processes along the entire corridor, from Altynkol to the Black Sea ports.
“The agreement aims to eliminate restrictions within the Middle Corridor, addressing both infrastructural and operational and logistical challenges. This includes streamlining customs procedures to reduce transit times. Clear deadlines and designated responsible agencies have been outlined for the implementation of these measures. The action plan represents a significant milestone in the development of the Middle Corridor. The mutual agreement will bolster regional cooperation, optimise transit capacity, and enhance freight transportation between European and Asian markets,” Georgian Railways stated.
