Lawyer Amiran Giguashvili: Former PM Garibashvili pleads guilty

“Irakli Garibashvili pleads guilty,” Amiran Giguashvili, the lawyer of the former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, told journalists.

“What you heard at the briefing at the Prosecutor’s Office are the facts of the case. We will comment on the remaining issues that interest you after the consideration of the preventive measures. The defence’s position is that Mr Irakli Garibashvili pleads guilty. He has the right to speak; whether he will use it or not is up to him. In this regard, we will consult again. We are a group of lawyers; our colleagues will agree on the appropriate position among themselves and make a statement. I am limited in making any other comments at this stage,” Giguashvili noted.

When asked by a journalist whether Irakli Garibashvili had testified about his accomplices, the lawyer noted that the former Prime Minister had not.

“Mr Irakli did not give any testimony. Issues of this type are the prerogative of the investigation,” Giguashvili said.
