Kobakhidze: Privatisation overhauled to maximise benefits, saving millions through staff optimisation

“Everything must be done to achieve our ambitious goal: to secure a place among the top three European countries in terms of low corruption. While this is an ambitious target, I believe it is also a realistic one,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during a government session.

According to the Prime Minister, the measures currently underway will, without doubt, enable the government to realise this objective.

“We have completely overhauled our approach to privatisation. All assets are now put up for auction to ensure the maximum benefit for the state and the national budget. Through these privatisations, we are saving tens of millions of GEL annually by optimising staff and operational costs, a very significant achievement.

Particularly within state-owned enterprises, substantial cost-saving measures have been implemented, resulting in approximately GEL 700 million being saved through efficiency improvements. Of course, we must continue to work diligently in this direction, and all our efforts are focused on achieving the ambitious goal of ranking among the top three European countries in low corruption. While challenging, I firmly believe that with the steps we are taking, this goal is within our reach,” the Prime Minister concluded.
