Kazbegi customs checkpoint working with impediments

Kazbegi customs checkpoint has been working with impediments for already the 6th day. Instead of 400-500 cars, the checkpoint manages to give pass to 240 trucks in 24 hours – Revenue Service of Finance Ministry reports.

According to Revenue Service, the limit set by the checkpoint of the Russian Federation is the reason of impediment. Russian customs officers claim that serving of tourists and light cars is the priority for them during tourist season.

The Georgian side offered altering of the movement scheme. However, the Russian side continues using only one gate. There are about 600 trucks travelling to Russia stuck on the Georgian side.
