Until the State Audit Service concludes on the issue of Patriots’ Alliance, any kind of speculation will further strain the pre-election process– Tea Tsulukiani, Justice Minister and Vice Prime Minister said when commenting about probing into financial declarations of Patriots’ Alliance Party.
According to Tsulukiani, everybody has to wait for the completion of the procedure and if any problems detected, the issue will further be investigated either by law-enforcement bodies or Central Election Commission.
The State Audit Office has launched an inquiry into the legality of financing of Patriots’ Alliance Party. According to the state agency, the financial declarations of the Patriots’ Alliance will be studied in terms of both donations and expenses.
Elene Khoshtaria, Majoritarian (single mandate) MP candidate of Vake election constituency of Tbilisi applied to Prosecutor’s Office on August 25. As Khoshtaria claimed, the case has to do with possible financing by Russia and the article published by “Dossier” online platform.
The online platform “Dossier” published two separate documents and wrote that Patriots’ Alliance was led pre-election consultations by the Russian officials, and the party was accountable before Russian structure about its activities. The article also mentions that the Patriots’ Alliance received eight million dollars of Russian funding for the elections.
