Justice Minister – German Model of elections is anti-Constitutional and no next debates will be held over this issue
Our irreversible standpoint is that the German Model of elections is anti-Constitutional and no next debates will be held about the issue – Tea Tsulukiani, Justice Minister said after the meeting held between representatives of the ruling party and opposition at Biltmore Hotel in Tbilisi.
According to Tsulukiani, detailed and deep discussions were held both in legislative and political aspects and Georgian Dream made it clear that Constitutional changes would not be made.
Justice Minister said that some other suggestions were presented by foreign colleagues and if these compromise suggestions were compatible with the constitution, the ruling team was ready to consider them. “Georgian Dream is the political force for which the country matters most and is always ready for a dialogue,” Tsulukiani claimed.
The so-called German Model of elections was the main topic for discussions between representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party and opposition. The Georgian opposition sees the adoption of the German Model of election system as the way out of the current political crisis in the country. Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps attended the meeting.
