The attack on media and journalists means an attack on democracy, on freedom of each of us,- said Janos Herman, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.

“Today we once again support the EU decision to promote freedom of expression, which is the right of every human being and is based on the principles of equality, non-discrimination and unity with any media outlet, both in our countries or outside,” – Janos Herman said.

In addition, the EU Ambassador has provided public with the information about the EU-Georgia Competition “2018 EU Prize for Journalism”.

“In 2012 we set up EU prize for journalism in order to reveal the highest quality media product in Georgia. Today I have honor to present the seventh, one of the most large-scale contests in journalism, ” – the ambassador said.

The 2018 Prize will be awarded to winners in seven categories in print, online and broadcast media. In addition, European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) instituted Special Prize for Peace Journalism.
