James Appathurai – I will return to Brussels with Salome Zurabishvili’s messages
Important issues and priority topics including NATO-Georgia relations were discussed during the meeting with Salome Zurabishvili – James Appathurai, Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, being on an official visit in Georgia, said after the meeting with Georgian president-elect.
Appathurai said that president-elect talked about ongoing reforms in Georgia and responsibilities of president. “I welcomed messages of Georgian president-elect. I read her letter in Financial Times where she clearly stated that she is intended to fulfill the will of the Georgian people that Georgia is integrated into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. We heard this clear message in NATO and we will work to reach this target,” Appathurai said.
According to NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative, discussions were also focused around security in the Black Sea region and Russian aggressive activities. “I am very pleased with the meeting and will return to Brussels with the messages of Georgian president-elect,” Appathurai said.
