“After Venezuelan President Chavez (Hugo Chávez, former President of Venezuela) recognized our illegally occupied territories, during my presidency, we have been assisting the Venezuelan opposition,” jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili wrote on Facebook.

Saakashvili believes that both Georgia and Venezuela will win.

“Maria Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the protest movement leader of Venezuela’s rigged elections.

After Venezuelan President Chavez (Hugo Chávez, former President of Venezuela) recognized our illegally occupied territories, during my presidency, we have been assisting the Venezuelan opposition.

I believe that both Georgia and Venezuela will win,” he wrote.

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, a 58-year-old industrial engineer, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, October 10. Over the past two years, she has reenergized a politically disengaged population after more than a decade of economic and social collapse.

According to Reuters, Machado has been in hiding in Venezuela since 2024, when electoral authorities allied with President Nicolas Maduro declared Maduro’s reelection in a vote widely seen as rigged.
