Ivane Machavariani: Statement that good payers are covering debt of 600 thousand bad payers is a speculation

Cartu Foundation buys and fully covers debt amounting to about 1.5 billion GEL, – Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani stated at the briefing today.

Minister of Finance made this statement when speaking about the new initiative on over-indebtedness problem.

As Ivane Machavariani noted that statement that good payers are covering the debt of 600 thousand citizens, who are bad payers, is a speculation.

“The role of the government was that we raised this issue acutely; we were looking for ways to solve this problem. Finally, Cartu Foundation has totally realized the acuity of the problem and supported our country to solve it”, – Minister added.

The financial liabilities of more than 600,000 citizens toward the banks, online organizations and other financial institutions will be annulled. Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze made this statement at the briefing today.
