IPRM meeting underway in Ergneti

A meeting is currently taking place in Ergneti within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM).

The primary focus of this gathering is to address the recent incident near the occupation line, the detention of four minors by Russian soldiers two days ago.

“The key issue at today’s meeting is the urgent need for the release of Georgian citizens who are illegally detained. Currently, eleven Georgian nationals are in unlawful custody. Since January, a total of 23 cases of detention have been recorded, with seven additional incidents since our last meeting.

We will be discussing these cases of illegal borderisation, including eight incidents that occurred in the municipalities of Kareli, Gori, and Kaspi. Naturally, today’s discussions will also centre on the incident from two days ago. The main priority is ensuring that the minors are returned to their families within a strict timeframe. We will review the remaining details after the meeting,” stated Irakli Antadze, Deputy Director of the Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).
