Investigative Commission Head addresses Saakashvili: Lady Aprasidze is both your verdict and punishment

“Saakashvili, Lady Aprasidze is both your verdict and punishment, as these children survived and continue living for the country,” Tea Tsulukiani, chairperson of the Temporary Investigative Commission on the Activities of the Regime and Political Officials from 2003-2012, addressed former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

As Tea Tsulukiani stated, these children will build a better Georgia, which Saakashvili and his ministers were trying to destroy.

“Saakashvili, Lady Aprasidze is both your verdict and punishment because these children survived and Giorgi Aprasidze is still alive. They have two more siblings, and these children continue living for the country, despite Giorgi Baramidze’s wishes. They will build a better Georgia, which Saakashvili and his ministers were trying to destroy,” Tea Tsulukiani declared.

At the meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission on the Activities of the Regime and Political Officials from 2003-2012, commission members heard about the violations of the right to life of Evgeni Aprasidze and his family members.

On March 24, 2004, at 7:00 a.m., a large-scale special operation was conducted in the Svaneti village of Etseri, with the participation of hundreds of employees from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Security.

Information spread at the time that the operation was related to the detention of particularly dangerous criminals. During the special operation, Evgeni Aprasidze and his son Omekh Aprasidze were killed. Gocha and Shmagi Aprasidze were detained and sentenced to 19 and 17 years in prison respectively. The brothers got amnesty in 2013.
