Int'l community's response to rigged elections to reflect sentiments of Georgian people, NGOs say

Several Georgian NGOs stated on Friday that “national irreconcilability and coordination is the path to new elections.”

According to the statement, “the international community will react in the same way as the Georgian citizens will react to the stolen elections.”

“No one will fight for us, but they will stand by us if we do not accept the stolen elections and the stolen European future.

The Georgian Dream rigged the elections. The results announced by the CEC do not reflect the will of the citizens.

We acknowledge that many people may be disappointed with this circumstance, yet it’s crucial to recognise our current achievements:

The observation missions and civil observers were able to obtain evidence. We appealed to the election administrations and the courts and will continue our legal fight. The legitimacy of these elections is further called into question by the fact that none of the complaints were satisfied.

The democratic world does not congratulate the Georgian Dream on its victory. They do not recognize the elections as free and fair.

Following the elections, various groups started coordinating and agreed to demand new elections.

What ought to be done: We are all working for fresh, free, and fair elections. Every group in society must agree on this objective.

The Georgian Dream must not gain legitimacy within the country. This requires irreconcilability with the results of the stolen elections, and refusal to cooperate with the so-called government in all formats.

International isolation of the political entity that came to power illegally is necessary; this requires ongoing efforts to uphold and reinforce international non-recognition.

We, the observation organisations, declare that we are prepared to present recorded proof of election breaches to the EU Technical Mission.

The identity of individuals who executed Bidzina Ivanishvili’s unlawful directives related to election rigging must be made public to the whole community. The international community should take decisive action against those who helped Ivanishvili with the rigging.

The activities of the opposition must be coordinated. They should not enter the parliament.

Coordinating with Georgia’s president is crucial.

Public mobilisation and active participation are paramount. The call for fresh elections should be the focus of peaceful mass mobilisation and protest; our next strategy is to participate in these demonstrations,” reads the statement.
