Interior Minister thanks law enforcement for upholding high standards amidst October 4 unrest; vows strict action against threats to national stability
“Anyone who opposes the state or raises a hand against a law enforcement officer will be held fully accountable under the law,” declared Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze during a briefing at the ministry.
Geladze emphasised that the professionalism displayed by law enforcement officers has been essential in safeguarding citizens.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our law enforcement officers for maintaining an exceptionally high standard of public safety, order, and professionalism during the events of October 4.
It was evident to all that every member of the police units from the Ministry of Internal Affairs acted with the utmost professionalism and in strict accordance with the law. The measures taken were precise and appropriate, successfully preventing an attempt to overthrow the state.
The coordinated efforts of police, Special Task Force, and State Protection Special Service once again demonstrated that Georgia’s law enforcement system is robust and well-organised. Thanks to the exceptional professionalism of our officers, we have been able to safeguard the safety of our citizens and uphold national stability.
We will take the strongest possible action against anyone seeking to undermine our country’s stability and the rule of law. Anyone who opposes the state or attacks law enforcement will face the full force of the law,” Geladze affirmed.
Additionally, the Minister noted that 16 more individuals have been arrested in connection with the October 4 events, bringing the total number of arrests to 62.
