Interior Minister pays tribute to police officers who fell in fight for Georgia’s territorial integrity
The Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs, Geka Geladze, laid a wreath at the memorial honouring police officers who lost their lives during the August 2008 Russian-Georgian war while carrying out their duties.
Geka Geladze visited the memorial situated within the Ministry’s grounds, accompanied by his deputies, department heads, and the families of the fallen officers.
“Geka Geladze met with the families of the police officers and assured them of ongoing support, emphasising that the sacrifice of those who fell in the fight for Georgia’s unity was immense and invaluable,” the Ministry stated.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Minister also visited the base of the Special Tasks Department, where he observed a minute’s silence while laying a wreath at the memorial.
Nineteen employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs lost their lives in the August 2008 Russian-Georgian war.
