Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections convenes yet another session
The Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections convened another session at the Ministry of Justice, chaired by Minister Paata Salia.
According to the Ministry, during the meeting, members discussed the outcomes of the monitoring of the pre-election phase for the 2025 local elections, as well as the developments that occurred throughout the electoral process.
“It was emphasised that the election process was conducted in a calm, equitable, and competitive environment, without any disruptions. The Central Election Commission (CEC) reported that a total of 25 complaints were lodged with the District Election Commissions. However, these complaints did not relate to violations that could have affected the final outcome of the election.
The purpose of the Interagency Commission, established in accordance with the Election Code, is to prevent breaches of election legislation by public officials and to respond swiftly to any potential violations. Throughout the monitoring process, the Commission reviewed both the information circulated in the media and the data provided by political unions. The Commission will continue its work until the official publication of the final election results and will hold a subsequent, summarising session,” the Ministry of Justice stated.
