The Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections convened once again at the Ministry of Justice, which subsequently issued a statement.

According to the Ministry’s press service, during the latest session, held ahead of the 2025 local elections, members reviewed the progress of the pre-election process.

“It was emphasised at the meeting that political entities have had the opportunity to organise election meetings and other activities in an environment characterised by fairness and transparency. Thanks to the efforts of the Interagency Commission and ongoing media monitoring, no significant breaches of electoral legislation by public officials were identified,” the statement read.

The Commission also received an update from the Deputy Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Giorgi Sharabidze, regarding the preparations undertaken. He confirmed that the printing of ballots has been completed and distribution to municipalities is currently underway.

A total of 3,513,818 voters are registered on the electoral roll. A total of 3,061 polling stations will open on election day, including 2,284 equipped for electronic voting, with the remainder operating via traditional methods. Additionally, ten polling stations will be established within penitentiary institutions across Georgia.

Notably, citizens utilised the verification services 600,784 times, a testament to high engagement levels.

The Commission is scheduled to meet again on Election Day, October 4.

Established under the Election Code, the Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections is tasked with preventing violations by public officials, addressing any potential issues, and developing appropriate recommendations. Led by the Minister of Justice, Paata Salia, the Commission comprises senior representatives from various state agencies, ensuring coordinated and effective action.

The Commission will continue its work until the official publication of the final election results, the Ministry stated.
