Inspection of entire epicentre complete, heavy equipment to move to riverbed, Emergency Situation Service Head says
We have completed the inspection of the entire area within the landslide epicentre, and our next step is to move heavy equipment into the riverbed by tomorrow, Temur Mghebrishvili, the Emergency Situation Management Service Head, stated.
Mghebrishvili said the current situation remains unchanged, with 26 bodies found so far.
“In fact, we have checked the entire area in the epicentre; there are several hundred square meters left. By tomorrow, we are planning to bring heavy machinery into the riverbed. Until now, we were not allowed to do it because the equipment was getting stuck due to the soft soil. Nevertheless, recent evaluations indicate that the ground has solidified, enabling us to initiate active search operations starting tomorrow,” he said.
