“The Zugdidi sports complex of modern standards will serve the entire Samegrelo region. Accessibility to sports infrastructure is one of the top priorities for our Ministry,” said Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze at the opening of a new sports complex in Zugdidi.

According to the Minister, the government will spend over GEL 2 billion on a large-scale project, which envisages the construction of approximately 40 football and rugby stadiums, fitness clubs, and sports complexes.

“In the epoch of gadgets, thousands of children will have the opportunity to exercise at modern sports complexes. I am convinced that this investment will bring promising results in the near future, and our country will have many Khvicha Kvaratskhelias,” he said.

A new, modern-standard sports complex has been inaugurated in Zugdidi, in the Samegrelo region. Constructed by the Ministry’s Municipal Development Fund, the facility features three swimming pools, along with fitness and weightlifting halls. All areas are equipped with dressing rooms and showers.

The complex features heating, air conditioning, and fire safety systems, as well as an outdoor café and shop. It offers parking for up to 100 cars and three buses, and has been fully adapted to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.

The project, costing up to GEL 27 million, was financed through a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with co-financing from the government.
