Hungarian gov't 'firmly' backs Georgia's EU integration, GD Chair says
Georgian Dream (GD) party chairman Irakli Kobakhidze says the Hungarian government and its ruling team ‘firmly’ back Georgia’s EU integration and their stance on granting Georgia candidate country status ‘remains unchanged.’
“From tomorrow we will have meetings with the Hungarian government members at the highest level. We seek to further develop cooperation between the nations,” Kobakhidze stated.
Asked about Hungary’s ruling party’s resolution calling on the government not to support the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s EU accession, and whether it affects Georgia, Kobakhidze said, “This is a matter for the European Union and Hungary.”
“I sincerely hope that Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova will get support from all 27 nations. The opposition are infuriated because Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, and the Hungarian government in general are ardent proponents of our country’s EU integration,” Kobakhidze continued.
