A Holy Synod session is currently underway at the Patriarchate.
The gathering has been convened at the invitation of the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, His Eminence Metropolitan Shio.
According to the Public Relations Service of the Patriarchate, the primary aim of this session is to address organisational matters not detailed within the Statute of the Management Board of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
“The agenda includes further elaboration on the upcoming sessions of the Synod and the expanded assembly, the venue of the assembly, the process for inviting delegates, and other essential issues,” the statement clarifies.
Furthermore, as Andia Jagmaidze, Head of the Georgian Orthodox Church’s Public Relations Service, explained to journalists before the session commenced, today’s meeting is not intended to select the three candidates for the Patriarchal throne. Instead, it will focus on resolving procedural matters.
