Health Minister: Situation remains serious; everything is being done to restore Patriarch's vital functions as swiftly as possible
Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze has confirmed that the Patriarch remains in the resuscitation unit, with his condition continuing to be described as very grave and of serious concern.
The Minister stressed that at this moment, the priority above all else is to maintain the stability of his vital signs.
“The situation remains highly challenging and deeply concerning, as there is still a considerable way to go before hemodynamic stability is achieved. At this stage, it is particularly crucial to maintain his vital signs within a stable range, which is currently being managed with medication. Naturally, he is under close and intensive observation. Continuous monitoring is in place, and all efforts are focused on restoring his essential vital parameters as swiftly as possible to support his recovery.
He remains in the resuscitation unit. His condition is linked to an ulcerative pathology of the stomach, from which bleeding had occurred. Immediate intervention was undertaken, successfully stopping the bleeding as a result. The resuscitation measures now underway are of the greatest importance. The closest possible attention and supervision are being maintained, and every effort is being made to restore as swiftly as possible all the vital functions the Patriarch’s health requires.
The necessary medical procedures have been carried out, and the bleeding has been successfully controlled,” said Sarjveladze.
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II was admitted to the Caucasus Medical Centre following a deterioration in his health. The Patriarch remains under the care of the medical team.
