Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze, accompanied by his Deputy, Tea Giorgadze, met with the parents of patients living with cystic fibrosis.
The Minister received information directly from those present regarding issues of pressing importance and concern to the beneficiaries.
The meeting also addressed the effectiveness of the medications added last year following the expansion of the rare diseases treatment programme, specifically antibiotics, vitamins, inhalation therapies, and other preparations.
The Ministry of Health notes that these medications improve patients’ quality of life, help manage the condition, prevent complications, and improve treatment outcomes.
Mikheil Sarjveladze emphasised that the Ministry’s primary objective is to safeguard the interests of every individual patient. The Ministry, in partnership with the parents, is continuing to meet the needs of the beneficiaries.
The meeting also touched on plans for future collaboration, including programme medications, effective therapeutic agents, and other related resources. The meeting also addressed the possibility of expanding the range of rehabilitation services. Representatives of the Ministry of Health were also in attendance.
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive genetic condition in which the body is unable to thin the secretions it produces, resulting in patients frequently suffering from recurring respiratory tract infections.
