The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office summoned heads of several non-governmental organizations for questioning within the ongoing investigation.
The Prosecutor’s Office reminded that the investigation was in progress into the case of NGOs’ participation in sabotage, aiding and mobilizing funds for organizing hostile activities controlled by foreign countries, activities against the Constitutional order and national security interests.
“With the aim to clarify significant details of the case within the ongoing investigation, heads of several NGO’s are summoned to the Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office. The Investigation into the criminal case determined that in 2024, both political party leaders and representatives of foundations and NGOs actively participated in planning and organizing protest rallies outside the parliament building and in different locations across the country.
The above circumstances and the evidence collected in the criminal case served as the basis to freeze the bank accounts of 12 legal entities – foundations and non-governmental organizations, limiting their access to monetary resources and misuse of finances,” reads the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office.
On August 27, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, within the framework of an ongoing investigation, decided to freeze bank accounts of seven non-governmental organizations.
