GYLA: Mzia Amaglobeli refuses food while in fifth facility, receives only water
The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) has called on the Prosecutor’s Office to halt the ‘illegal criminal prosecution of Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti’.
GYLA asserts that Amaglobeli’s imprisonment and prosecution are unlawful and amount to political repression.
The organization highlighted violations in Amaglobeli’s case and reported that she was mistreated by the head of the Batumi Police following her detention. GYLA urged the Special Investigation Service to promptly investigate the alleged mistreatment.
“Given these circumstances, we demand: the immediate termination of the prosecution against Amaglobeli, her immediate release from detention, the thorough investigation by the Special Investigation Service into her mistreatment and the suspension of Irakli Dgebuadze from his official duties during the investigation,” GYLA’s head, Nona Kurdovanidze, stated.
Kurdovanidze also remarked that Amaglobeli has not received food since being held at Facility No. 5, and the prison administration has been informed.
