Group violence-accused Giorgi Gorgadze collapses during trial; emergency medical assistance provided
Giorgi Gorgadze, who was detained on charges of organising, leading, and participating in group violence during protests outside the Georgian Parliament, fell ill during his trial, prompting the immediate call for emergency medical assistance.
The incident occurred shortly after the proceedings commenced. According to his lawyer, Shota Tutberidze, Gorgadze had taken a painkiller earlier that morning for a headache, on an empty stomach. Additionally, he recently recovered from pneumonia, a condition he describes as ongoing and characteristic of the post-pneumonia recovery period.
A recess was declared to address his health emergency. The trial has since resumed, with a prosecution witness currently being questioned.
Eight individuals have been apprehended on charges related to organising, leading, and participating in group violence: Zviad Tsetskhladze, Vasil Kadzelashvili, Vepkhia Kasradze, Irakli Miminoshvili, Insaf Aliyev, Tornike Goshadze, Nikoloz Javakhishvili, and Giorgi Gorgadze.
