Grand National Assembly Chair: We want to revitalize Georgia-Turkiye-Azerbaijan trilateral mechanism
“We want to revitalize the Georgia-Turkiye-Azerbaijan trilateral mechanism,” said Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, at the joint briefing with Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili.
According to Numan Kurtulmuş, cooperation and relations between Georgia and Turkiye continue in every field of life.
“I had the pleasure of welcoming the Chairman of the parliament, along with the delegation from Georgia. It was a very productive and bilateral meeting with them, and once again, I would like to welcome you, Your Excellency, Parliament Chairman, to the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Our two countries have a very rooted and cultural friendship, and today, under the initiative of the presidents of the two countries, our bilateral relations are deepening further. As for parliamentary democracy, we have significant contributions to making the relations between the two countries. We had the chance to talk about these opportunities today, and to further develop the existing bilateral relations, we emphasized the work of friendship groups existing between the two parliaments. The process has already been initiated, and we agreed to further deepen these initiatives.
Because of the earthquake in our country, we had to postpone the trilateral parliamentary mechanism between Georgia, Turkiye and Azerbaijan. And we want to revitalize this mechanism. We decided to hold this meeting this year, and this trilateral mechanism will also include other countries from the Caucasus. We have agreed on this.
Our cooperation and relations continue in every field of life. Hopefully, next month, the President of Georgia will visit Turkiye and I hope that the relations between the two countries will continue, increasingly, and I hope and wish that this meeting will bring acceleration to our existing relations. By taking this opportunity, I would like to express that we are open to any kind of cooperation with Georgia,” he said.
According to Numan Kurtulmuş, Turkiye supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We support sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, and in every international arena, we have reiterated this, and once again, I would like to reiterate this and the support to Georgia, and bringing Georgia back to the EU parliamentary union. We do our best to promote friendship and peace, and ensure that all problems are solved through dialogue,” he said.
